County
Kilkenny, Ireland. An extract from Thom's Directory 1931:
Kilkenny an inland county in the province of Leinster
is bounded on the north by the Queen's county (Laois),
on the east by counties Carlow and Wexford, on the south
by county Waterford, and on the west by county Tipperary.
Its greatest length, north and south from the bend of the river Suir,
west of Waterford city to the north of the county at the village
of Clogh (Clough) is 45 miles ; and its greatest breadth
from near Graiguenamanagh on the east to the western boundary
is 23 miles.
The maximum
population of the county was attained in 1841, and from that period
there was a continued decline. Comparing the census of 1841 with that
of 1926, there was a total decrease of 131,430 persons of 64.9 % of
the population in 1841.

The Ballyfoyle
set here is finished, that is to say that everything has been indexed
the way that I want to have all my gravestone photographs done. Stones
which are illigible have yet to be added to my gravestone blog

Parish
Record Extracts or Indices
Roman Catholic.
O = Ossory Diocese, K&L = Kildare & Leighlin Diocese. Most of
the links below will bring you to a single page for that parish, some
however, will take you to an index page for the parish and that will have
links for different sets of years of parish records which have been transcribed,
though some of those records are from my older files and do not contain
as much information as records transcribed today. This will be corrected
in time - I hope! Johnstown is one such example
Note:
re the Parish register for Rathkeiran & Mooncoin. The 1799
marriage section of this parish register is titled "Carrigeen
& Mooncoin", and the people named in the first few entries
at least are listed as being from the parish of Pollrone (also spelled
Poulrone). Other parishes are also mentioned.
